How to reduce SPAM

Depending on your email service - I use OUTLOOK so have filters there - you can setup filters in most email systems. You can usually set words that are SAFE -- and words that you want to always land in SPAM -

Example:

SPAM: Viagxxra, mortgxxge, refinxxnce, cixxlis (used xx to get past your current filters - note that spammers may do that also)

SAFE: Tupperware, siteimpressions, recruit, tupper, my.tuppperware, my2.tupperware

Check with your system to find out what their filter options are. This can reduce your SPAM by 90%. I only get about 4 SPAM per day in my files due to excessive filtering. (yes, Tupperware has SPAM filter options - see preferences in your mailbox area)

Go to google.com and type in your service (example OUTLOOK, FILTER, SPAM) and you should be able to find directions for your email service if online or major software program.

You can also set a SAFE word to tell friends and family that have never sent you mail. Suggestion would be passmailcindy

Anyone who sends you mail with your passmail word would automatically be deemed safe from then on. This is what a lot of businesses use. You can add it to your sig line so when they respond it doesn't go to SPAM too.

Another trick - DO NOT PUT YOUR EMAIL TEXT ON YOUR WEBSITE. Use a link instead. Either a graphic or text link that says e-mail me is better. Spam robots surf the internet and grab those email addresses off websites. They then compile them and sell them to spammers.

Other ideas: Have different emails for different purposes. Most programs will let you auto-forward to ONE email box. I have one for online subscriptions (like my J C Penney weekly emails). One for family (almost NO filtering). One for Tupperware >>> forwards to my main email. 4 for my business >>> forward to main email but easier to track which page they link from. You get the idea. If you don't want too many emails - at LEAST have one for family - one for business - and one for surfing/online registrations as these sell them to spammers too.
