Dr. Marlin Kay
|
Thanks for visiting our web
site. I am Dr. R. Marlin Kay and look forward to being your
dentist. My dreams are being realized every day I work with our
wonderful patients. As a 1977 graduate of the University of
Washington School of Dentistry, I began dentistry trained by
some of the best clinicians. My practice is built upon the
principles of gentleness, thorough communication of treatment
options, fairness in fees, and conservative treatment and
prevention of dental conditions. Continuing education courses
enthuse me to adopt new advances in dentistry, including
implants, digital x-rays, anti-snoring appliances, and fiber optic Perioscopy in the non-surgical treatment of gum infection.
Great individuals have come together creating a dental team that
is the best in our area. I have empowered each staff member to
reach for their highest potential in personal and professional
fulfillment. The result is a joyful environment where everyone
is committed to providing you with excellence in dental care.
My life outside the dental office finds me busy with my family.
Friday night is strictly reserved as date night with my precious
wife Lisa. Other times I may be found on a tennis court or a
racket ball court still trying to be victorious over one of my
children who may be home visiting from college. Sunday is my day
to worship God and renew my spirit. My lifetime pursuit is
seizing every day with excitement, to find inner joy by serving
God in doing what I can to help other people. My dental practice
family is an important part of this pursuit. |

I have been
neighbors and friends with Dr. Kay and his family for many
years. I started working for him by filling in for Sue when she
started having her babies. I told him I don’t do extractions, ha
ha! Next thing I know 13 years have gone by and now I work in
the front office as the insurance specialist. I have in the past
and continue now to take classes, seminars to help maximize
insurance coverage. I try to make sure you won’t have any
surprises. |

My name is Lisa Duncan and I am a Registered Dental Hygienist
having graduated from Clark
College
in Vancouver, Washington
in 1991. I have worked in the dentistry field since I was 17
years old. I started as a dental assistant, then receptionist
until finally settling into dental hygiene.
I have worked with Dr. Kay and his staff since 1997. These years
have been very rewarding because of the great group of patients
that are my friends. Working for Dr. Kay is a pleasure where I
have the freedom to provide the very best in gentle hygiene with
the latest in technology and never rushed for adequate time.
At home I spend time with my two teenage boys, Zachary and
Anthony. Both are into basketball and orchestra performance,
which keeps me running. I also love my garden and my “girls”
who lay enough eggs to share with friends. |

I
developed a love for dentistry at an early age while working as
a dental assistant for my father. I went on to attend
Washington
State University
and Eastern
Washington
University where I obtained a Bachelor
of Science degree in Dental Hygiene in 1981. I have worked for
Dr. R. Marlin Kay since 1985. The most rewarding part of my job
has been the relationships I have developed over the years with
my patients. I also enjoy doing cosmetic dentistry and challenge
myself daily to deliver gentle and painless dentistry. On a
personal note—I have been married to a wonderful man since 1981.
We have 2 boys—they have both left the home nest and are doing
very well in their endeavors. Our family loves to snow ski and
ride dirt bikes together when we have the opportunity for a
reunion. I have become addicted to tournament water skiing, even
qualified for Western Regionals again this year and placed in
the top 10. Old dogs can learn new tricks! My other love is
playing the piano and organ for other’s enjoyment at church and
social outings. |

Hello
my name is Sue Larson and I have worked for Dr. Kay since the
very first day he began practicing in July 1980. Back then it
was just he and I in a two operatory office. Boy was that a
long time ago.
I have been married to a great guy Corey since January 1982 and
together have raised three great kids. Two are currently
attending WSU (Go Cougs) and my oldest daughter has graduated
from WSU and is working as an assistant to the Sports
Information Director at Linfield
College
in McMinnville, Oregon.
My family and I have been a part of this fine community since
the early 1970’s by volunteering and participating in the
various youth sports programs. I enjoy watching the Mariners and
Seahawks; maybe someday they will surprise us and win the big
one. But I’m still a fan. I have also taken up the hobby of
quilting and I am a member of our local quilt guild. It is an
honor and a privilege to work for such a great dental family who
takes pride in caring and providing the greatest dental care. |

I
have been involved in the dental field for over 20 years. I am
originally from Spokane.
I took the first quarter of the dental assisting program through
a vocational skill center my senior year of high school. I knew
that this is what I wanted to do as a career, so I continued my
education at the Spokane
Community College graduating from the
program in 1996. My first dental assisting job was in
Spokane
where I perfected my assisting skills and gained experience with
crown and bridge work for 10 years. I moved to Graham in 1998
and started working for Dr. Kay in March of 2000. I have been
married to my husband Mike since 1995 and have 2 wonderful
children – my daughter Skylar and my son Chris. My family spends
many weekends with our 1968 Sport Satellite Convertible at the
local car shows. I also enjoy camping with my family and sewing
when I have time. |

In
2000 I started working in Dr. Kay’s office as an assistant to
the hygienists. This helped me decide to pursue a career in
dental hygiene. I have been working as a hygienist full time
since I graduated from the Clark
College
dental hygiene program with honors in 2003. In school I was
elected class president and dubbed “Mr. Has to Know” by my
fellow students. They often became frustrated with me because I
was always asking questions, even if we had been in class for 12
hours. No one could leave until I had a satisfactory answer to
my question. My love for dental knowledge continues today. I
continue to study the newest developments in oral hygiene and I
enjoy sharing this knowledge with my patients. If you have a
question about your dental hygiene I will happily answering it.
However, I understand that sometime you just want to sit in the
chair and sleep. In that case I can be very quiet and avoid
giving an unsolicited advice. My goal is to inform you of the
status of your oral health. From then on it’s up to you to find
the best way that works for you to improve your oral health. My
hobbies include tennis, water and snow skiing, reading sci-fi/
and fantasy books, and watching sci-fi movies. My greatest joy
is found at home with my family. I have been married to my wife
Amye since 1997. We have four children, Taylor, Ashlyn, Madelyn,
and Brayden. |

I
have enjoyed working for Dr. Kay since 1995. In that time I have
managed to have two wonderful children and have been married to
a wonderful man for the same length of time. What free time I
have I enjoy quilting and spending the rest of the time with my
children. They tend to keep me busy. I have lived in the Yelm
area for about 9 years. My husband was in the military when we
met and has since gotten out and now works in Lacey. |

Our family moved to Yelm in 1999. It has
been my privilege to be associated with Dr. Kay since that
time. I graduated from Pierce College Dental Hygiene program in
1993. I enjoy the field of dental hygiene as it provides
challenges for perfection, opportunities for intellectual study,
and, most importantly, interaction with many people. As I help
patients improve their oral health, I also gain information on
many subjects from lawn care tips to vacation recommendations
from my patients. Visiting with patients is one of the high
points of my days.
On a personal note, I am a happily
married mother of four. I feel very fortunate to be married to
Scott. He is a teacher and coach in the
Yelm School District.
He has also coached teams that our children have participated
on. On any night during the year our family can be found at a
baseball diamond, wrestling mat, basketball court, soccer field,
volleyball court, track or swimming pool. Our family is proud
to call Yelm home and appreciates all the friends we have met
here.

My
name is Kallie and I have been a dental assistant since 1997. I
enjoy everyday and it brings me great pleasure to help people,
especially as I work in the community where I live. I have
lived in this area for the majority of my life and have no plans
of leaving.
I have one young son, Wyatt, who brings to
me joy and smiles everyday. With my husband, Mike and our son
Wyatt, I generally spend my leisure time outdoors. We spend
most of our fair weather days boating, hiking, and
rollerblading. I encourage you to get outside and play! |
Breanne
|
|
My
name is Breanne. I am the sterilization expert for Dr Kay’s
office where we pride ourselves in order and cleanliness. I
make sure that all the rooms are sanitized and the instruments
are sterilized and ready for your appointment. No bugs will get
past me.
I am the mother of two beautiful young
children, Alexia and Hunter. They are the joy of my life. My
family enjoys being a part of the Rainier/Yelm community where
we find easy access to pursue hobbies in camping, fishing, and
hiking. I look forward to meeting you in our clinic and maybe
we’ll cross paths again near a mountain lake on
Mt. Rainier. |

Hi!
My name is Amy. The U.S.
military brought my husband and me to the beautiful
Pacific Northwest
in 2003. I am enjoying living in the Yelm Community with my
family. My oldest child recently graduated from
Yelm High School,
and my second child entertains us and stresses us by
participating in Yelm athletics.
I have worked for Dr. Kay since 2006 where
I find quality staff and wonderful patients.
I am the hygienist’s assistant that can go
three different directions in a single moment. I will help keep
you on schedule for your hygiene recall appointments and keep
the hygienists on schedule so that you are seen promptly at your
scheduled time. I get the paper work done so the hygienists can
spend time with you; I am the best hygiene assistant there ever
was….I am Super Amy. |
Senja
|
|
My
name is Senja Triplett and I’ve been a Registered Dental
Hygienist since 1994. Dr. Kay was one of my first employers in
the dental field back in 1995, when I worked two years for him.
I came back in 2007 and while I was gone, I earned my Bachelor
of Science degree from Eastern
Washington University,
have worked in various alternative practice settings (including
a state prison!). I volunteer at the Olympia Union Gospel
Mission dental clinic, and I currently teach dental assisting
part-time at South Puget Sound Community College. In short, I
like to keep it interesting!
In my spare time (of which I have precious
little!), I enjoy experimenting with cooking, spending time with
my two sons, watching movies, and reading. I must say that out
of all the places I’ve worked, Dr. Kay’s office has the very
best patients! |
